Together We Stand
Harmony Baptist Church (Galesburg, IL) exists to make disciple makers of Jesus Christ. We accomplish this through our three-fold focus of loving God, loving each other, and reaching the lost. We help each of our members to “press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 3:14).
Simple is not easy, but God’s grace abounds.

Loving God
Loving God is impossible for those who seek to love Him in their own strength (Mark 10:27). When you take up your cross and follows Jesus, you’re empowered by Jesus to love Jesus (Mark 8:34; Eph. 4:32). The more you understand God’s love for you, the more you’ll be able to love God.
Loving God therefore is not a matter of having a higher “worship experience” but of coming to know the deep love of Jesus Christ (Romans 5:8).
Loving Others
Loving others is the other part of the great commandment from Jesus. He said, "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these" (Mark 12:31).
At Harmony Baptist Church in Galesburg, we inspire each other to truly love by instruction, example, and correction.
Reaching the Lost
The last of our three-fold approach to church ministry is to serve the world. As we grow in our love for God and others, we'll begin to desire that others also would come to know the love of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
That's why Harmony has an outward focus. We seek to truly serve our community spiritually and materially. We desire by God's grace to make true disciples of Jesus Christ who will build up and cause the growth of His church (Ephesians 4:11).
